Saving Lives with Every Donation 🩸  Every year, thousands of Australian newborns face the risk of Haemolytic Disease of the Foetus and Newborn (HDFN), a potentially fatal condition. The Anti-D injection 💉 has been a game-changer in preventing this disease, but its availability depends on a small group of dedicated plasma donors.  James Harrison’s contributions were instrumental in this effort. His blood donations helped produce 3 million doses of Anti-D, protecting babies across Australia.👶🏻 With 17% of pregnant women 🤰🏻 in the country requiring this injection, the demand remains high. Yet, fewer than 200 regular plasma donors provide the majority of Australia’s Anti-D supply.  Over 60 years, Harrison donated 1,173 times 🏥, almost every two weeks, never missing an appointment. The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood organization praised him as a "true selfless donor."
