Last week TAMID at Northeastern and Generate Product Development hosted our first joint Careers in Tech Panel! We brought together an incredible group of professionals from Accenture, WHOOP, CME Group, and Wayfair who shared their journeys in software engineering, data engineering, and technology consulting. A huge thank you to our amazing panelists – Harrison Hur, Anna K., Leroy Shaigorodsky, and Cam Plume - for offering candid insights about transitioning from college to career. This panel was invaluable in not only understanding the tech industry, but also bridging the gap between academic life, co-op experience, and building a successful career as a new graduate. The engaging discussion would not have been possible without our moderator Caroline Dittrich and Jacob Chen. Also, a huge thank you to our organizing team: Sally Pigott, Tania Gole, Naisha Mistry and Generate's organizers Chirag Chadha, Josephine Dermond, Katherine Zhang, Jay Sella, Frank Anderson for bringing this vision to life. Looking forward to more collaborations that help bridge the gap between classroom and career! 🚀

On Monday, September 30th, Generate’s student-led Software teams hosted their first Proof of Concept Demo of the year, an exciting demo day where each team got to show off the progress they’ve made so far! Since the start of the semester, software teams have been busy meeting to develop their products. Thus, the room was bursting with energy as teams presented in front of an audience full of Generate Engineers, Designers, and Product Leads, ready to exchange ideas and receive constructive feedback. Linwood Blaisdell, the Director of Software, gave teams creative control over what they wanted to present, so members took to the stage each with their own unique spin. This year, Generate is taking on five projects which range from healthcare to real estate. 🏥 Apprenta: A scholarship platform that helps hospitals invest in their future workforce by supporting students at community colleges in areas like EMT, nursing, and radtech. 🎶 Platinum : A place for music lovers to share their tastes via ratings, reviews, and authentic human recommendations. It’s a one-stop shop for all musical discourse! 🌆 NightLife : A rating service that transforms how people discover nightlife by offering a user-driven rating system that helps users find the perfect venue based on factors like ambiance, music, crowd, and service. 🌊 Snapper : A gamified social platform for divers and marine enthusiasts to share, identify, and learn about marine life, where users can collect fish sightings and earn badges, creating a Pokedex-like experience. 💸 3 Stones : A mobile app that revolutionizes the real estate investment landscape by enabling developers to crowdfund real estate projects directly from individual investors. The event was a huge success! Teams received feedback on their progress thus far, and guidance from one another on potential approaches forward. We look forward to sharing more updates on their hard work leading up to our end of semester Showcase!
