It’s been a busy day getting it done here in Ontario. Check out what we did today, Thursday, November 28:   ✅ Kinga Surma, MPP announced Ontario is investing $1 billion to help municipalities build more homes. The new Housing-Enabling Water Infrastructure loan program will help to expand drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater capacity.   ✅ I joined Sylvia Jones to announce we’re helping to build Mississauga’s first hospice, a new 12-bed centre that will connect patients and their families with dignified end-of-life care and comfort, closer to home. ✅ Lisa Thompson announced up to $116,050 in funding through the RED program to help business retention and identify opportunities to strengthen and grow the local economy in Norfolk County. ✅ Kevin Holland hosted a roundtable discussion with Ontario’s forest sector leaders to discuss how we can foster industry growth, create more opportunities and build on past and present successes. ✅ George Pirie introduced a new regulation under the Mining Act that will help foster a dedicated pathway to the recovery of minerals, strengthening Ontario’s sustainable, safe and innovative mining practices. ✅ Peter Bethlenfalvy attended a fireside chat and spoke about our fiscal plan, as part of our Fall Economic Statement, to strengthen Ontario’s economy and make our province the best place in the world to invest.      ✅ Sylvia Jones also announced that we are expanding the role of practice for nurse practitioners and registered nurses to order more tests and provide additional services to make it faster and more convenient to connect to care.    ✅ I also joined Michael S. Kerzner at the annual Toronto Police Services Chief’s Gala in support of Victims Services Toronto, thanking them for their volunteer contributions that are essential to providing support for both victims and the police.

Today, our government announced a #Mining Act regulation that will make it easier to recover residual metals and minerals from mine waste found at operating, closed or abandoned mines. This amendment will encourage innovation, unlock minerals and create jobs. https://lnkd.in/gDsDqdEz

Thanks to Carole and Allan from the Timmins Bowhunters and Archery Club for meeting today. We had a great conversation about the needs of the #Timmins Bowhunters and Archery Club and reminisced as we looked through pictures of their clubhouse steeped in local hunting and archery history.

Thanks to the great team at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce for organizing an informative roundtable at the 2024 Ontario Economic Summit. Minister Stephen Crawford and I spoke about how our government knows that #Mining has incredible potential to bring high paying jobs and prosperity to northern communities.

Great news for the Timmins community. Last night with Greg Rickford, we announced that our government is investing over $1.8 million in Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation funding to 7 businesses in #Timmins. This news shows our commitment to strengthening the northern economy & creating job opportunities. nohfc

Together with MPP George Pirie, we announced more than $1.8 million in NOHFC funding to seven business development projects in Timmins. We are helping to build a sustainable economic future for the North by empowering local companies to expand, innovate, and prosper.

Last week, I stopped by a great Women In Mining networking event in #Timmins with over 80 women from the northeast who work in mining and are passionate about the industry. We’re setting up our #Mining sector for success and providing women across #Ontario with the tools to succeed.
