We are so proud to be part of the Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation Partnership where we are able to rehabilitate and release rescued manatees. In May we received Tay Tay, who was suffering from cold stress and injuries from a boat strike. Our dedicated teams helped her heal and gain enough weight to be released back into the ocean! Special thanks to our friends at ZooTampa at Lowry Park and the Manatee Viewing Center. All manatee activities conducted under USFWS Permit MAPER0034017

In honor of our late CEO, Brian Davis, Ph.D., Georgia Aquarium established the Dr. Brian L. Davis Marine Biology, Conservation & Education Scholarship Fund. A lifelong learner and former educator, Dr. Davis dedicated his life to educational opportunity and marine stewardship. This fund will award a $20,000 scholarship to a high school senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in the fields of marine biology, conservation or science education. To apply for the scholarship and view the requirements, visit the link below; applications are due Feb. 1, 2025. Georgia Aquarium is collecting donations to the fund to continue its gift into the future. If you are interested in donating, please visit the link below. https://bit.ly/4fd9xNK

Help us welcome eight new (temporary) friends by dropping a 💚! We received eight cold stunned loggerhead sea turtles rescued from the East coast to Atlanta with the help of New England Aquarium and TURTLES FLY TOO! During the cold weather, turtles are vulnerable to hypothermia and need extra care before returning to the ocean. They will remain behind the scenes to recover. As part of this multi-institutional effort alongside other zoos, aquariums, and agencies like NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, together we are able to help rehabilitate hundreds of turtles each year! Be sure to continue checking our page for updates. 🐢

Meet Ukiaq a walrus calf- or “Uki” (pronounced oo-kee) for short! 💙 Earlier this year, Alaska SeaLife Center (ASLC) was alerted of a walrus calf in distress and in need of specialized round-the-clock care. Georgia Aquarium along with other marine conservation organizations, were eager to help. Join us in our commitment to helping Uki, an incredible ambassador for her species: https://bit.ly/3NF977G
