A heartfelt Thank You to veterans, all who serve the German American Partnership and Freundschaft, and everyone who attended the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta last week. Particular Dankeschön goes to the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, Commissioner Patricia Ross, Ed.D., the German Consulate General in Atlanta, Consul General Melanie Moltmann, and Oberst Brand all of whom highlighted the nearly 8 decades-long and deep connection between the US and Germany ... starting with the Rosinenbomber (Raisin Bomber). All of us enjoyed hearing about personal experiences from the dreaded German driver's license test to adjusting to German cultural norms and memories of favorite foods. We are excited to kick off Veterans For Freundschaft with meaningful stories, favorite German food, and great fellowship. We are open to ideas for projects, gatherings, and more so that stories, historical context, memories, and relationships continue to deepen the partnership between the two countries.
