This week I represented Ansa at the Conexxus.org Annual Conference. What an incredible group of people gathered to deep dive on the technology that drives the innovation of convenience and fuel! There are many interesting things happening, but because of my history with restaurant tech I was thrilled to see foodservice growth and the associated tech propelling convenience to new heights. A few reflections from the ICR conference in Orlando last week: (1) 2025 is a year for GROWTH 📈 Brands from Dutch Bros Coffee, Portillo's, Potbelly Sandwich Works, and Dave's Hot Chicken all highlighted that they're opening new locations, many of them in new geographies. (2) Guest frequency is 🔑 brands are speaking more about driving customer behavior more broadly than just revenue numbers. Brands like Shake Shack spoke about how incentives will be the key to unlock to drive these repeat visits. Others shared that they're expanding menu options to capture different ordering behavior throughout the day. (3) Data is about to have its moment ✨ Merchants have been collecting more customer data, building the internal systems to scale analysis, and 2025 feels primed to be when the majority of brands are able to take it to the next level: segmentation, business insights, more customized loyalty incentives, and improving customer experiences. It was exciting to speak to dozens of brands and validate how well stored value wallets are primed to help with all three of these initiatives. Launching a wallet helps reduce fees and drive frequency, from CEOs to CFOs both are clearly top of mind. "Loyalty" is a loaded term that typically brings alt currencies like stars, points, and punch cards to mind. At Ansa we sometimes refer to ourselves as "loyalty with a little L" to differentiate what we do from the work of loyalty platform (who are awesome partners! We just aren't one by most definitions.) Stored value wallets drive similar outcomes: increasing customer frequency and LTV, alongside financial benefits like payment cost savings and cash flow. Customer behavior is at the center of what drives this value for brands. We've invested in building novel tools that help our merchants launch their wallet programs well and drive adoption among their customers. Today we give those tools a name: the Ansa Incentive Engine.
