Thanks to Shortwave, my email productivity has easily doubled, my overall productivity has dramatically improved, and I use Slack half as much. Thank you for the excellent product, Shortwave team.

Something I learned toward the end of my interview process: My new company has a rule that all emails should be replied to within 24 hours ⏱ Personally I love this. The ability to communicate faster is proven to reduce cycle time on making decisions and testing new ideas. Collaboration can only be as smooth as communication. So for me, having a universal rule that everyone follows (creating uniformity in rhythm) is just as vital as the shorter turn time. Even though the comms move fast, I'm still making more effort to keep my email "put away" during focus time by using a new desktop app called Shortwave. I know everyone loves fyxer but that one doesn't work for me because I want to have access to multiple google accounts in one desktop app. I'll report back on the email adventure goes! So far I'm a big fan but I'm finding it really challenging to "ignore email" during various points in the day.

Lately, I have been going down a rabbit hole of RAG based systems. (Lots of stuff coming your way in the next few weeks and beginning of 2025!) It feels like every YC batch has a few startups trying to provide a platform for it. While I don't know how it's going to play out, the space is super exiting and I feel like lots of companies are playing around with this new tech. Myself, I like taking a look at teams that are shipping RAG systems in prod and see how they do it / what challenges they faced. I've been testing this for the past few weeks, and I'm very impressed. It's GPT on my emails. Very helpful for pulling out information from past emails and searching to find specific information. I recommend it!
