A huge thanks to our speakers and participants for a fantastic #GIFCTForum2024! Industry leaders, experts and civil society shared key insights on the latest tech trends to strategies in combating online extremism. 📢 Highlight from Ghayda Hassan: "The bedrock of society is a common agreement on the social contract. Currently, the violent extremism space is fragmenting that bedrock, attacking it at its roots. We should respond as civil society, governments, impacted communities, and tech to pull those fragments back together again. GIFCT is a unique space that will allow this rebuilding by encouraging and supporting stakeholder ownership." Let's keep pushing forward together for a safer digital world! 🚀 Stay tuned for more insights and key takeaways from the forum in the coming weeks! #GIFCTForum2024 #OnlineSafety #GlobalCollab #TechForGood

💻 At long last, this week, we are introducing GNET'S 2024-2025 fellows and highlighting their research. Today, we are thrilled to introduce GNET Fellow Ye Bin Won. Ye Bin is a tenacious researcher of male supremacist groups, Christian supremacist movements, and violent extremist families. In her first Insight officially as a GNET Fellow, Ye Bin examines content produced by two prominent and active anti-feminist YouTube influencers in the South Korean manosphere. She compares and contrasts the two influencers’ video themes and seeks to shed light on how women influencers spearhead anti-feminism and male supremacy in a non-GNA manosphere. Read Ye Bin's Insight below ⤵

📣 We are excited to announce the launch of our latest report with Extremism and Gaming Research Network (EGRN): '30 Years of Trends in Terrorist and Extremist Games' by Emily T. and Galen Lamphere-Englund. Violent extremist, terrorist, and targeted hate actors have been actively exploiting video games to propagandise, recruit and fundraise for more than 30 years. This report presents an analysis of that history using a unique dataset, the Extremist and Terrorist Games Database (ETGD), developed by the authors. It contains 155 reviewed entries of standalone games, modifications for existing games (mods) and browser‐based games dating from 1982 to 2024.
