It's been an incredible year of GROWTH for GiGi's Playhouse! From providing over 340,000 hours of FREE programming to adding 300 new families each month, GiGi's Playhouse has grown a tremendous amount in 2024. On top of it all, we've changed thousands of lives through literacy! Our FREE Literacy Tutoring program gives children and adults with Down Syndrome the tools they need to communicate, share their stories, and unlock communication! But we need your help! Like everyone, we feel the effects of inflation. Despite our rising operating costs, we continue to offer everything 100% FREE to all our families, making us even more reliant on the generosity donors of amazing donors like YOU! The holiday is almost here! But there's still time to give the gift of literacy! When you give to GiGi's, you're helping an individual achieve their dreams. ...Like Ari. Before Ari came to GiGi's, school was a struggle. Teachers made negative comments about her lack of focus and abundance of energy, and they kept insisting Ari wasn't making progress. Then Ari met Holly, her FREE Literacy Tutor at GiGi's Playhouse, and everything changed. During their sessions, Holly let Ari be herself, allowing her to move and explore. Holly even leaned into Ari's energy, creating learning scavenger hunts! What others saw as a lack of focus or unwillingness to learn, Holly saw as an opportunity to learn and connect! ...And now, Ari is showing the beginning signs of becoming an independent reader! Cindy Marie has changed lives. A longtime Literacy Tutor at GiGi's Playhouse, Cindy Marie has been there for our participants' struggles – the moments when sounding out a single word feels impossible. But she's also played a pivotal role in their successes – when it all clicks and a participants reads a word, sentence, paragraph, or entire book for the first time! She's even helped turn a mother's skepticism into tears of joy as her 35-tear-old non-verbal son read the word "Mom" for the first time during a tutoring session!
