  • Yes, we ARE working with girls to move millions of dollars to organizations working to #EndChildMarriage 😀 Even with the rise of participatory grant-making, girls are often excluded from real decision-making, large-scale funding control, or involvement beyond initial decisions. We decided to transfer power to 11 girls from six countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and created the space for them to co-design our #GFFChangemakers program! And we continue to work with them through our learning processes with the organizations they recommended for funding. Join our session at the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) forum to hear directly from the girls and some of the partners they selected! 🗓️: 3 December 2024 ⏱️: 14:30 - 15:45 📍: Room 109CD at QSNCC Quick tip: add this session to your personal agenda on the forum app so you don’t miss it 😉 #GFFatAWID #AWID #AWIDForum

  • Imagine a world where girls are free to dream, learn, and grow without the challenges of child marriage. A future without child marriage is a future filled with endless possibilities. When girls are supported to complete their education, pursue their dreams, and make informed choices about their lives, they can become leaders, innovators, and agents of change. We believe that every girl deserves the chance to reach her full potential. Join our efforts to #EndChildMarriage and create a world where girls are valued, respected, and empowered. #IDG2024 #DayOfTheGirl #FundCBOs

  • On International #DayOfTheGirl today, we are reminded that there are still 12 million girls around the world who remain at risk of child marriage each year ‼️ While there have been positive shifts - including declines in child marriage rates in some communities - change is not happening fast enough. For the past 5 years, we have supported community-based organizations to address the root causes of child marriage in their communities. They use their expertise and experiences to provide the best solutions to the challenges that girls face in their contexts. Today, girls and their families are more aware of the dangers of child marriage and gender inequality. Like Praise in this video, girls are learning to say no to child marriages and early unions. And they are choosing better alternatives for themselves. Our partners are making a difference, one girl and one community at a time. We must continue to invest in their work It is time to imagine a different reality for girls. One in which they are free to live and thrive. 🫶🏾 #DayOfTheGirl #IDG2024 #EndChildMarriage #FundCBOs

  • We’re kicking off this new month with a pop of colour and lots of gratitude for our experience at the United Nations General Assembly and the Summit of the Future. We are excited about the connections we made, especially with people, organizations and collectives working to #EndChildMarriage and advance gender equality. There is still so much work to be done to make such spaces truly equitable and revolutionary. But we were proud to show up with some of our #GFFChangemakers Council members forming half of our delegation and watch them demonstrate what’s possible. We left New York with a renewed commitment to strengthen our support to our partners, and a stronger intention to keep finding ways to meaningfully engage young people - especially adolescent girls - in the spaces where decisions are being made about their lives. #GirlsFirstFund #UNGA79 #SOTF

—————— One of the highlights from our experience facilitating our #GFFChangemakers Council meetings was the curation of a truly multilingual space where the girls in the Council could speak the languages they chose. Creating a new grant program while communicating effectively in at least 5 languages was truly groundbreaking for us, and has inspired us to continue incorporating language justice in our work. We were proud to see Nassiratou, a member of the Council, take the stage at this weekend’s girls’ demonstration, and choose to deliver her statement in French. Because like she said, world leaders who speak French need to hear #WhatGirlsWant. Check out whatgirlswant.com to learn about the girls’ demands! #WhatGirlsWant #SummitOfTheFuture #UNGA79

  • Girls and young feminists have consistently told the world what they want and need… and they have consistently been ignored 😓 More than 50 girls and young women from different parts of the world convened in New York yesterday to tell world leaders - and everyone, really - what they want now and for the future. At a demonstration in front of the UN, surrounded by life-size cutouts of world leaders dressed ironically as youthful “girl experts”, the activists delivered a strong message: world leaders aren’t the experts on what girls want and need for their futures. Girls are! The group is backed by an informal coalition of girl-centered non-profit organizations, institutions, networks, and funds who worked to synthesize the well-documented policy, programming, and resourcing demands of girls at WhatGirlsWant.com #WhatGirlsWant #SummitOfTheFuture #UNGA79

  • “We want to be heard, to have a say in decisions that affect our lives, and to live without fear of violence or discrimination. We are not asking for handouts. We are asking for chances to prove that we are strong, capable, and ready to build a better future for ourselves and for those who will come after us.” - Arianna Garcés 🤗 Today, our #GFFChangemakers Council members joined other girls and young women for a powerful gathering in New York to share #WhatGirlsWant and call out the lack of involvement and engagement of girls in the #SummitOfTheFuture process.
