🌟 Event Success: Health for AWSAD! 🌟 On January 5, 2025, we had the honor of organizing a Free Medical Service and Sanitary Pads Donation for GBV survivors at the Association for Women's Sanctuary and Development (AWSAD) Safehouse. 💡 Key Highlights: ✅ Provided medical care to 9 children (ages 5–16 years) and 29 women (ages 16–30 years). ✅ Conducted teaching sessions on mental health and menstrual hygiene management to empower and educate the beneficiaries. ✅ Donated reusable pads to support the dignity and hygiene of the survivors. ✅ Partnered with the Rotaract Club of Atrons to make this initiative a success. A special thank you to: Icare PowerPeriod Campaign for supporting the initiative by providing 33 Birqe Dignity Buckets and reusable pads. Adey Pads አደይ የሚታጠብ ሞዴስ አምራች for assembling the reusable pads and other sanitary products. Our beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing how much it meant to them that we took time out of our weekends to support them. They also thanked us for our generosity and the knowledge we shared on menstrual health management, emphasizing how meaningful this support was to them. A heartfelt thank-you to our volunteers, whose dedication and hard work made this event impactful and inspiring. Your efforts are truly appreciated! This event was a meaningful step toward supporting survivors on their healing journey, and we are deeply grateful for everyone who contributed their time, resources, and expertise. Yesterday, GIV Society Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Atrons, organized a successful free health screening campaign at Mary Joy Ethiopia. With the help of over 20 dedicated volunteers, we screened 134 children and older adults, identifying and addressing medical, surgical, dermatological, and ophthalmological cases. We are honored to have received a recognition certificate from Mary Joy Ethiopia, who has requested we expand our screening program from twice a year to four times annually. Our campaign continues next week with the theme 'Health for AWSAD', aiming for an even bigger impact as we strive to bring healthcare to those in need on January 5. This past week, GIV Society Ethiopia proudly attended the 4th Annual Continental Convention at the African Union Commission (AUC) headquarters. Our Executive Director Saron Habtemichael, MBA joined 35 delegates from across Africa to champion gender-sensitive leadership. The event focused on: "Encouraging Gender-Sensitive Leadership to Promote Innovation and Economic Empowerment to Unlock Opportunities for Young Women in Africa." Key discussions highlighted the importance of: ✔️ Gender awareness training to challenge biases. ✔️Mentorship programs to empower future women leaders. ✔️Strong action against gender-based violence. ✔️Partnerships to share knowledge and resources. ✔️Education as a tool for transformation.
