  • Our Program Director, Emily Stuhldreher, recently traveled to Jakarta, Indonesia, on a prestigious YSEALI PFP | Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program Reciprocal Exchange Grant through the U.S. State Department! While there, Emily leveraged GiveBackHack curriculum and best practices to: ✅ Deliver capacity-building training for social enterprise program operators and ecosystem builders. ✅ Facilitate a GiveBackLabs workshop with students at Binus University. ✅ Give a lecture on design thinking for social innovation at Universitas Pertamina. Beyond the workshops, Emily collaborated with inspiring social entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders, gaining valuable insights into how the Indonesian social enterprise landscape is evolving. GiveBackHack loves partnering with organizations looking to empower innovators both near and far. Our global impact doesn't end here. We’re excited to see Emily’s global impact and how lessons from Jakarta will shape our work at GiveBackHack!

Relentless community builder | All things innovation + impact

WOW - what a week! ✈️ I'm finally back in the US (and recovered from jetlag... the real accomplishment). I'm so grateful for all I was able to experience through my YSEALI PFP | Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program Reciprocal Exchange Grant in Jakarta, Indonesia! During this journey, I worked with incredible ecosystem builders, including my Indo counterpart Ryani Sisca who went above and beyond to ensure we made the most of my trip! Together, we delivered three trainings in one week(!!) - Capacity-Building Training for Social Enterprise Program Operators - Social Innovation Workshop at BINUS University - A Design Thinking Lecture at Universitas Pertamina This experience wasn’t just about sharing knowledge; it was also about cultural exchange. From understanding the unique challenges facing the Indonesian social entrepreneurship ecosystem to learning about the most pressing social issues in their communities, I came away with new perspectives and lifelong friendships. As I continue to reflect and document the experience - I'm excited to share more about all I learned and how it influences our work in the US. Thank you to Ryani, Nur Qomariyah, Putri Maha Lima, Riko Reinarto and all of the other incredible humans I met for welcoming me and making this such a meaningful experience. Closing out 2024 dreaming about more international collaboration and building a global ecosystem of social impact!

This weekend we pitched the Freedom Pipeline - an online platform to help returning citizens find long-term freedom post-incarceration. A HUGE thank you to GiveBackHack for being our launchpad and to the other teams, judges, mentors, and everyone who was willing to share their experience with us. More news to come! This past weekend, Zora's House participated in GiveBackHack to pitch the Women of Color Equity Design Institue as a social enterprise and I got to work on an incredible team. Thank you all for your dedication to seeing this through and thank you GiveBackHack for this space! We got so much done in two days, and had the opportunity to pitch our idea to judges. Walking into to CCAD while it was light outside and walking out when it was dark was an experience to say the least. I did learn quite a bit about my own ability to ideate as a future designer and I am excited to see what unfolds with WCEDI. Special shout out to Lachandra B. Baker, MBA, CTA, CDP for being a sounding board and mentor in this process (I love love love you deeply friend!). Witnessing women and gender expansive people of color further break into design spaces to create the worlds we want to see gives me hope and trust, we are not going anywhere. ✨
