Earlier this week, UN Global Compact Network USA led an in-person session in New York City for the 2025 SDG Ambition Accelerator cohort. Studies show that by integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into business strategies, companies could unlock $12 trillion in market opportunities and create 380 million jobs by 2030. This Accelerator program helps unlock that opportunity by bringing together companies nationwide to engage in peer-to-peer learning, gain expert insights, and share best practices to help participants understand how to align their core business practices and operations more effectively with the SDGs. Here are some highlights: ✨ The session kicked off with an overview of the development of the SDG Ambition Program, featuring Michael Hughes from Accenture, who had a critical role in the program's creation. 👥 Q&A with SDG Ambition Alumnus: The first day concluded with a Q&A session featuring a former program participant, James Armstrong, CSM, CEM, GSM, Senior Vice President of Global Health, Safety, and Training at AmSpec Group. James shared his experience in the program, offering valuable advice on implementing sustainability initiatives and elevating the ambition of sustainability projects. 🌐 United Nations Headquarters Tour: Participants took a guided tour of the United Nations Headquarters, gaining firsthand insight into the UN system. The tour provided an in-depth look at the creation of the #SDGs and their integral role in the UN’s work and agenda. 🔆 Effective Communication Workshop: The session closed with a workshop on strategies for communicating the business value of #sustainability and the SDGs.
