Tackling our planet’s most pressing environmental problems.
About us
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is the largest multilateral trust fund focused on enabling developing countries to invest in nature, and supports the implementation of major international environmental conventions including on biodiversity, climate change, chemicals, and desertification. The GEF was established on eve of the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, to help tackle our planet’s most pressing environmental problems. Since then, the GEF has provided over $114 billion in grants and mobilized in excess of $70 billion in additional financing for more than 4,000 projects. The GEF has become an international partnership of 184 countries, international institutions, civil society organizations, and private sector to address global environmental issues.

The path to mainstreaming climate adaptation runs through standards. ISO standards drive investment and action across economies and sectors. We need the climate finance and standards communities to join forces for localized climate adaptation and resilience action at scale. When public policies motivate uptake of climate adaption standards we can drive systems change. The Global Environment Facility is excited to be partnering with ISO - International Organization for Standardization and UNIDO to catalyze climate action and investment by uptake of climate adaptation and resilience standards, with inveatment from the #GEF Chalenge Program for Adaptation Innovation through the #LDCF and #SCCF. #GEFatCOP29 #resilientroot Noelia Garcia Nebra Sergio Mujica Craig Davies #cail Alois Posekufa MHLANGA Patrick Nussbaumer Olusola I. 📣 Young people are among the most affected by climate change, yet they’ve often been left out of key climate discussions. The Global Environment Facility is working to change that by actively engaging #youth in climate governance and supporting their leadership in finding solutions. 🌍 At #COP29, the GEF has partnered with the Youth Negotiators Academy to give young leaders a seat at the table in international climate negotiations by joining their national delegations. Through financial support and training, these young negotiators are representing their countries and advocating for inclusive, long-term solutions. The GEF is committed to ensuring youth have the tools, the platform, and the support they need to lead the way towards a sustainable future. These young delegates are bringing fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to the critical climate discussions. 🔗 Learn more on how the GEF is partnering with youth leaders to drive climate action: https://lnkd.in/ey_cFK7t #GEFatCOP29 | #Finance4Climate Ann Albert | Linet Ndou | Megan Chen | Yundeh Alfreda Butler | Ana María Mateo Ramírez | Silvana Peralta | Farhan Fauzan | astry lucero chavez pelaez | Adiaratou TRAORTE | Michelle Gaëlle BIDIMA, Ph.D., M.Sc., Eng. | Kealeboha Lenka | Asmau Muhammad
