ACOS (Advertising Cost of Sale) is a number that gets obsessed over by brands and marketers alike as it’s the easiest number to point to in determining campaign success or failure. Walmart's Q4 2024 earnings report was released last week and highlighted some surprising revenue figures. Before diving into the results, we had originally estimated that Amazon's 2024 revenue would top Walmart's, for the first time ever, as Amazon has a very strong Q4. However, after analyzing Walmart’s 2024 earnings, the retailer came out slightly on top, at least for total annual revenue. Walmart made about $43 billion more in annual revenue than Amazon, although Amazon had a stronger Q4, making about $7 billion more than Walmart in the quarter alone.
