After nearly two decades of service and advocacy, Lisa Dearden, the driving force behind some of Central Virginia’s most beloved farmers markets, has announced her retirement. Following her retirement, two localities served by Dearden, Goochland County and Powhatan County, will absorb their markets into their respective Parks and Recreation departments. On Tuesday, December 3rd, a team consisting of County staff and representatives from Timmons Group, 3TP Ventures, presented the results of the Southeastern Infrastructure Study (SIS) to the Goochland County Board of Supervisors. The SIS was identified as a need during the creation of the County-wide 2040 Major Thoroughfare Plan (MTP), adopted in 2018. During the creation of the MTP, concerns were raised about the future roadways and interconnectivity between Route 288, Patterson Avenue, Hockett Road, Broad Branch Drive, and River Road. Goochland County is currently recruiting for a Utilities Technician to join the Public Utilities team. This position is responsible for flushing the public water distribution system, reading and replacing meters, performing hydrant maintenance, and more. The ideal candidate would have a solid understanding of math and safety protocols and be able to effectively communicate with coworkers and the public. On Wednesday, October 23rd, Goochland County Board of Supervisors and School Board met with the County's Delegation at Central High Cultural and Educational Complex to discuss issues facing the County and the upcoming 2025 Virginia General Assembly Session.  

Goochland County is excited to announce Paul Williams as the new Director of Information Technology. Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and computing from the University of Aston, is a Chartered Accountant, and a certified PRINCE2 project manager.
