    LinkedIn Job Title: Chief Revenue Officer (responsible for sales across channels) Reality: Chief Channel Conflict Officer (responsible for keeping retailers and internal stakeholders operating efficiently) You invariably take on more operational complexity as you expand beyond your digital DTC presence with an offline strategy. I recently spoke with a great entrepreneur from an omnichannel workwear brand, and she described herself as the Chief Channel Conflict Officer. It’s a fitting description and well-mapped to our experience at Chubbies. When you expand into omnichannel, you need a person responsible for making the day-to-day calls on which channel to allocate inventory. Even more, you need a philosophy and strategy for dynamic allocation. This is a completely new operating muscle. In my experience, each operating unit (ecommerce, B2B, retail stores & more) has its own supply and demand idiosyncrasies that must be incorporated. Someone must make decisive calls on how to maximize the overall sell-through of your inventory positions. It’s a lot to manage, but it’s totally worth it. At Chubbies, going omnichannel created a ton of leverage for us. We saw marketing spend as % of revenue decrease by ~40-50%+ as we successfully scaled the offline channel. The single largest takeaway, however, is that we also became a more resilient and adaptable business to whatever macro-environment we might be entering. During COVID, this proved an incredibly powerful operating paradigm as our B2B & retail store channels shut down overnight (we allocated inventory into DTC ecommerce). And then abruptly, offline roared back in late 2021 and 2022, by which time we had taken a ton of market share in our B2B channel from our competitors offline. Making the plunge into offline can be intimidating. GoodDay Software has built foundational technology into our Inventory Management and Wholesale Beta to help your brand handle this complexity in the simplest format possible.     Software builders in e-commerce infrastructure are undoing auto-magical technology product experiences. As a builder, I found this paradigm fascinating. On the one hand, nearly every conversation I’m having gravitates to how to incorporate “AI” into every corner of GoodDay Software. Simultaneously, I’ve frequently discussed this topic with reputable software builders I trust, who have consistently been “undoing auto-magical product experiences” for merchants. But why? This is bewildering. One word: Trust. Building software that manages your merchants’ largest investment asset—their inventory—is not for the faint of heart. There is an incredibly high bar for what each merchant trusts. As a result, they’re open to having it partially or fully automated. How we’re internalizing this at GoodDay—we have to earn the right to build auto-magical experiences. We’ll do this by building robust operating tools that are sometimes purposefully manual. We’ll be highly transparent and clear about the inputs used in any suggestions or automation that reside natively in our systems. And, as we introduce incremental automation, we’ll give each user the reigns on what they’d like to be mostly manual, partially automated, or fully automated. With time, GoodDayOS will earn the right to automate more operating tasks away fully. But the point stands: we must first build trust. #ecommerce #inventorymanagement #AI

    FYI: Consumer sentiment hasn’t been this healthy since late 2021. I started seeing positive signals mid-summer, but in the last 90 days, we’ve seen positive signals everywhere. From our early merchants. From our technology & solutions partners. From the entire ecosystem, most notably Shopify growth data coming out of this weekend. If I’m planning for the next 1-3 years, I’m gearing up for a return to healthy, sustained growth for DTC brands. There is never a better time to start a brand.
