Doto is a bit-map inspired, open-source, variable, monospace and geometric typeface family, designed for display purposes. Playwrite wins Platinum CLAP award /// We’re delighted that Playwrite, our free, versatile typeface for handwriting instruction created in partnership with Google Fonts, was selected for the CLAP Platinum Award as the best text typeface design. The CLAP awards — the International Design, Branding and Communications Awards — recognize the best work of graphic design professionals in Latin America, the USA, Brazil, Spain and Portugal. We are so happy to see Playwrite gaining acclaim worldwide. Work on Playwrite began more than two years ago with our intense team research into how handwriting is taught around the (Latin-based) world. Once most of the research was completed for more than 40 countries, we announced the release of our Primarium.info website (link in comments), followed by the release of Playwrite. Playwrite has been released under the SIL Open Font Licence, and is available for free download from Google Fonts. Each family comes as a variable font or as the OpenType static files with the glyphs and letterforms that are most familiar to each country. The ISTD is a professional body run by and for typographers, designers and educators. Across the world, its members are committed to raising the bar and inspiring a love for all forms of typography. ISTD’s International Type Awards began in 1992. The Playpen Sans font family by Veronika Burian, Laura Meseguer, and Jose Scaglione, excels at imitating casual handwriting with a completely natural look — the aesthetic form of something made by hand and the digital function of a professional typeface.
