The National Council of Nonprofits created this helpful resource summarizing the Executive Orders that will have direct and indirect impacts on the non-profit ecosystem. #thrivingyouth #philanthropy
Since his inauguration, President Trump has signed dozens of executive orders covering a broad range of issues, including many that impact charitable nonprofits directly or indirectly. Some won’t take effect immediately and will be challenged in court. Check out our analysis of how the executive orders may impact diversity, equity, and inclusion programs; government grants and contracts; civic engagement; immigration; and certain nonprofit subsectors: https://bit.ly/4jslYIM We will be updating this document as more executive orders are announced. #Nonprofits #CommunityImpact

On February 27 at 12PM ET, GTY and the Children, Youth and Family Roundtable will kick off a three-part series for funders focused on the impact of tax policy decisions on young people and families. In 2025, tax policy decisions may precipitate significant cuts to early childhood, health, and education programs, putting parents and children at risk. Our conversation will cover opportunities and threats inherent in tax code policy-setting and delve into how funders focused on equity, economic mobility, and improving outcomes for children, youth, and families are working together to promote more inclusive and equitable tax policies that build prosperity for all. Join GTY and the Youth Transition Funders Group on February 6 at 12PM ET to discuss a recent report on the educational experiences of students experiencing homelessness, foster care, and/or incarceration. More than 1.6 million students in the US navigate K12 education while experiencing homelessness, foster care, and/or incarceration. We will hear from the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the lead authors, Stephanie Malia Krauss and Maddy Day, as they share revealing gaps in the evidence base and blind spots in studying and understanding these students’ educational experiences. Join us to discuss the findings and next steps, including the vital role of research partnerships and critical investment opportunities for philanthropy. The FrameWorks Institute's new resource helps shift the narrative around children's health with new guidance on understanding and discussing childhood obesity. They recommend shifting from simple narratives and harmful stereotypes to more holistic approaches, including communications that address health concerns linked to weight, improving access to nutrition, creating safe play spaces, and expanding equitable health options for all young people. #thrivingyouth #philanthropy #childhoodhealth https://lnkd.in/ePp5Xphy

Please join us on February 5, 2025 from 3-4pm ET for a funder-only briefing on the devastating impact of federal tax cuts on women, children, older adults, and people with disabilities and how the care movement is organizing to resist them. A stated priority of the new Administration and Congress is to enact massive tax cuts disproportionately benefiting wealthy individuals and corporations. Proposals to pay for these tax cuts include substantial budget cuts and structural changes to Medicaid, Head Start, food and housing assistance, and other vital programs. These budget cuts would also shift large costs onto states, further undermining family health and income security. The impacts will cut across generations, reverse gains for women, children, older adults, people with disabilities, and workers, and hinder future federal public investments in equitable child care, paid leave, and aging and disability care. Learn how a cross-issue, cross-generational state and federal movement is raising the voices of the families whose lives and livelihoods are at stake, and how philanthropy can engage at this moment. An interesting piece to start your week with something to ponder. Improving the well-being of young people will take more than a simple fix. The work we do is about strengthening and redesigning essential systems – education, democracy, housing – so that they work for everyone equally. We are working toward an inclusive, fair and just future, and that starts with listening to young people. https://lnkd.in/eCZREuQj
