Smiles and gratitude filled Holyoke YMCA today as we gave out 50 turkey baskets to our families which included a frozen turkey, sides and all of the traditional fixings! Thank you to Donna Logan-Gabel Basket Brigade, for this incredible donation and special shout out to our team members Donna, Rosanna and Mariah for distributing the baskets. Membership Means More at Holyoke YMCA!!

Last Friday the 3rd Annual Leaders vs. Leaders basketball game welcomed 25 community leaders to engage with 25 future teen leaders. While on the court there was friendly basketball competition, more importantly off the court role models shared advice with youth and healthy relationships flourished. Don’t believe us? Ask Joshua A. Garcia he gave advice to one of our teens who aspires to be Mayor one day, Senator Velis talking with teens at the score table, Superintendent Soto shared updates on Holyoke Public Schools , Harry Melendez III offering advice to teens on how to be consistent in life - thank you to all leaders who created positive relationships with our teens! #MyY #Community

More than 150 youth and families enjoyed pumpkin carving, haunted house, special treats and most importantly positive family engagement last night at Holyoke YMCA Halloween at the Y. It truly was a Spooktacular time and wouldn’t be possible without partners such as EG America, Springfield College , and Rewarding Insurance Agency. Special shout out to our staff and board members who made sure each family left with a big smile on their face!

From letter recognition and sight words identification to reading comprehension, Greater Holyoke YMCA full-day year round early education toddler and preschool program is committed to milestone achievements in early literacy levels. Don’t believe us? They even engage in literacy programs during lunch and snack. This is what raising a reader looks like in action! Special shout out to Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, Amy Kershaw, Patrick Tutwiler, PhD, Holyoke Public Schools Anthony Soto, and many other municipal and statewide leaders for helping advance literacy initiatives across the commonwealth!

We are excited to splash into a new season with Greater Holyoke YMCA Vikings! With more than 100 competitive swimmers enrolled in our program, this is how we build strong kids, strong families and strong communities!!!

We want to thank YMCA of the USA for facilitating an amazing National Emerging Multicultural Leadership Experience this past week. Gabriel Maldonado , School Age Director and Markeing Coordinator, had a powerful experience learning best practices in YMCA programs and operations as well as networking with other YMCA colleagues. Special shout out to Suzanne McCormick for helping deepen our impact across the country!
