During the last week of September, the #GreaterInternetFreedom team hosted the #OrgSecVillage, a four-day event in sunny Estoril, Portugal, as a satellite event of Team CommUNITY’s Global Gathering. The event brought together over 130 participants from more than 50 countries, representing more than 60 organizations operating at local, regional, and global levels! Over the past four years, GIF has collaborated with a range of organizations across Africa. As the project comes to a close, we’re taking this opportunity to reflect on our joint efforts. Thobekile Matimbe from Paradigm Initiative, Asimwe John Ishabairu from Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa (CIPESA), and Wuraola Taiwo from Co-creation HUB (CcHUB) shared insights into the #DigitalSecurity and #DigitalRights challenges facing their regions, how the GIF project supported their efforts to address these issues, and the successes they achieved along the way.
