We're proud to honor Chuck McDaniel, FASLA, for his Lifetime Achievement Award from the Greater Dallas Planning Council. For over 40 years, Chuck has designed some of Dallas' most iconic public projects: the Katy Trail, which spurred a citywide transformation in mobility; Pacific Plaza, a centerpiece of reinvestment in Downtown Dallas; Williams Square, an iconic postmodern landscape in Irvine, TX; and ongoing projects including Halperin Park, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the New Pediatric Campus for Children's Health and UT Southwestern. Over the years, he's also led the design for internationally-acclaimed resorts including Las Ventanas al Paraiso and the Resort at Pedregal.

I am deeply grateful to have been able to accept the Trinity Urban Design Student Award on behalf of the Design Build Studio at The University of Texas at Arlington for Joppy Momma Farm Pavillion. This project started with countless design possibilities and transformed into something far more impactful than I could have imagined. Very proud of everyone who worked on this project! This moment would not have been possible without the support of Professor Julia Lindgren and Professor Cord Read who guided us every step of the way. Thank you Greater Dallas Planning Council for this incredible honor.

Creating Community: A Vision Realized in Addison In the early 1990s, Addison, Texas, identified the absence of a cohesive core as a barrier to its growth. In response, the community launched a public/private initiative to create a mixed-use downtown, resulting in the development of Addison Circle—a pioneering suburban retrofit project. Initially an 80-acre vacant site, later expanded to 124 acres, Addison Circle transformed into a vibrant area between Addison Airport and the Dallas Tollway. The project, guided by RTKL and developed by Columbus Realty Trust, now features over 2,400 residences and 625,000 square feet of office, retail, and restaurant space, with over $500 million in private investment. Join us as we celebrate the success of projects which create a better built environment in our region.
