In Mesa, Arizona, smart city innovation is about being proactive. Rather than waiting for industries to offer the latest technologies, Mesa has taken the lead by expanding their Smart City Master Plan - incorporating forward thinking ideas (like AI governance) to ensure technology takes a community-centric approach. The old model of “IoT” at the center of the smart city has transformed and The Connective is proud to support Mesa and our other municipal partners to create smarter, more connected regional solutions.

The old model of industry-led smart city solutions is fast becoming obsolete. Once focused primarily on IoT, and industries “selling” their solution to municipalities, smart cities are approaching their planning differently - embracing more human-centered, community-driven solutions. The Connective works with partners like the City of Mesa—featured in this article—to prioritize the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors. Mesa’s Smart City Master Plan highlights the shift from technology-first to people-first approaches, addressing issues like AI governance. At The Connective, we’re proud to be part of this movement, ensuring that projects are customized to serve local communities and scalable to improve quality of life throughout our region.
