The Green Bay Metro Fire Department wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended and assisted with Lieutenant Tyler Kreiter’s service, procession, and the staffing of our fire stations. Your support, along with the overwhelming response from the community, helped provide Tyler with the honorable send-off he truly deserved. Tyler fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was honorable, giving, and dedicated to this profession. During this courageous battle, Tyler had the opportunity to take a promotion to Lieutenant. Tyler deeply cared about the well-being of others and felt a strong responsibility to ensure his actions wouldn't negatively affect anyone. He thoughtfully weighed his options and ultimately decided to pass on the promotion, believing that stepping back was the best way to serve the department and those around him. During today's service, Fire Chief Matthew Knott announced Tyler's promotion to Lieutenant Paramedic in honor of his memory and career. In public safety, we are much more than coworkers, we are like a family. When one of us is in need, we come together to provide support. Numerous public safety departments attended the service, many bringing fire rigs to participate in the procession. We would like to thank the Appleton Fire Department, De Pere Fire Rescue, Howard Fire Rescue, Kaukauna Fire Department, and Waukesha Fire Department for sending firefighters to help staff the Green Bay Metro Fire Stations, allowing our on-duty members to attend the service. Thank you, Green Bay Police Department, for all of your help throughout the week and during the service. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to Celebration Church for their support and generous use of their facility. Our appreciation also extends to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department Honor Guard, the Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin Honor Guard, and the Wisconsin Fire and EMS Memorial Honor Guard. A special thank you goes to the veterans' group “Vets Roll” for placing flags along the procession route, and to Proko Wall Funeral Home for their assistance during this process. Last but definitely not least, we want to thank our local media partners for sharing Tyler's story throughout the community.

It is with a heavy heart the Green Bay Metro Fire Department announces the line of duty death of Engineer/Paramedic Tyler Kreiter, age 43. Tyler was assigned to Fire Station 6, located at 1701 W Mason. He faithfully served our department, residents, and our community for 17 years. Tyler exemplified what it means to be a Green Bay Metro Firefighter. The courage and determination he displayed in the performance of his duties were outmatched only by his spirit in his fight against cancer. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family, friends, and colleagues of Tyler. Thank you for respecting the privacy of the Kreiter family during this extraordinarily difficult time.

In 2023, the Wisconsin Humane Society assisted and sheltered 123 animals displaced by fire-related incidents. This year, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department partnered with Fleet Farm for an incredible community initiative! With a generous donation of $600 from Fleet Farm and an additional $400 from the Green Bay Metro Fire Fighters Charities, we were able to purchase essential supplies for the Green Bay Campus - Wisconsin Humane Society. Our firefighters enjoyed shopping for our furry friends, and the supplies were donated this afternoon! Additionally, we are providing safety information to help new pet owners prepare for emergencies. A huge THANK YOU to Fleet Farm East for partnering with us on this important cause! #CommunitySupport #FireDepartment #FleetFarm #BayAreaHumaneSociety
