𝟭𝟯𝟰 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀.... That’s how long it will take to reach full gender parity at the current rate of progress—five generations from now. That’s too long and simply unacceptable. We need to step forward in solidarity and #𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to drive change faster. Growing up on a farm in Australia, gender roles weren’t something we thought about—everyone pitched in. My two sisters and I learned to drive tractors during harvest, muster sheep on motorbikes, fix machinery, and play every sport we could—alongside boys and girls alike. There were no "boys’ jobs" or "girls’ jobs." We just got on with it. But as I grew older, the world introduced me to the unwritten rules—that girls needed permission slips to play football while boys didn’t, that certain subjects were “for girls” while others weren’t, and that women in the workplace often hesitated to speak up for fear of being seen as too pushy, emotional, or negative. These biases aren’t always intentional, but they hold us back. And if we don’t actively challenge them, we risk waiting another 134 years for change. At the World Economic Forum, we see the power of data-driven insights to drive action. Gender equality isn’t just about fairness—it’s an economic and social imperative. Companies and countries that invest in gender equity perform better. The evidence is clear: accelerating progress isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s the smart thing to do.
