As part of the BRAVA 2025 Women to Watch, they provided us with a Faux Magazine Cover version. It got me thinking about how things can first appear appealing but upon further review, you begin to see what is faux. For example, this past week a new proposal of 'affordable senior housing' was presented and at the community meeting many concerns came up as to how that building would not be beneficial. Stay tuned to #greenpastureslivinginc posts about how we are continuing this discussion with the village reps and the developer. Join us, Wednesday Jan 7, for a noontime lunch conversation about recent policies and actions aimed at criminalizing homelessness. This topic is especially timely in the aftermath of the recent Supreme Court ruling that allows municipalities to enact ordinances that allow law enforcement to fine, ticket, and arrest people who are living unsheltered. Register: https://bit.ly/3DTHy8J We will hear from Mike Basford, Director of the Interagency Council on Homelessness at the WI Department of Administration, about the effects the ruling has already had at a state level and in communities in our region including types of policies that have been introduced and/or passed by local municipalities. Then we'll discuss how this impacts efforts for good, permanent affordable housing overall and ways we all can prioritize and advocate for the wellbeing of people who are living unsheltered, including partnering and supporting efforts at the state level and in our own communities.

As a non-profit business we do things differently because our work is for the benefit of the people we serve. "How can we offer what is in the best interest of the senior?" One way we make this successful is to depend on community support. As we close 2024, please consider investing in our work to provide independent, affordable senior housing in small-town communities. You are a crucial piece of puzzle! https://bit.ly/4f1OPAg
