Historic charm meets modern infrastructure: See how Thorold's Front Street nailed the balance. This city preserved their heritage architecture while modernizing the pedestrian experience with new sidewalks, quality tree plantings and cohesive street furnishings. They created a downtown that honors its past while building for the future, drawing visitors and businesses back to the heart of the town. Key to the success of urban forestry on this project was choosing quality over quantity - because planting one tree properly beats planting five trees poorly. Read the full case study to see how thoughtful infrastructure choices turned "pretty dumpy" into pretty amazing. https://lnkd.in/eYEYebSN #UrbanDesign #GreenInfrastructure #DowntownRevitalization

First impressions matter - especially for an event space. By replacing this drab gravel lot with a thoughtfully designed streetscape, the space welcomes visitors from the moment they arrive. ✨ Adding sidewalks to accommodate pedestrian traffic could have meant sacrificing landscape. However, GreenBlue’s soil cells were incorporated to meet the needs of both. Mature trees and essential infrastructure work together, proving that urban spaces can be both practical and beautiful. New year, new employee! 💫 Meet Elle, our technical design consultant, who brings her architectural experience to GreenBlue's shop drawings. Outside work, she's a fusion cooking enthusiast, DIY-er, and outdoor adventurer. She has a unique past performing as a violinist in an Iranian orchestra and used to maintain a collection of coins and currency from around the world. 💦 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳? Either being completely lazy: getting comfortable at home, watching TV, and sleeping in is essential! Or heading out for an adventure in nature with my friends. I love exploring new trails, especially ones with waterfalls since being near water is so refreshing for me. 👅𝗪𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻? Where I’m from, dishes like cow tongue, brain, stomach, camel meat, and lamb eyes and feet are fairly common and popular. Turns out they’re pretty crazy and wild, and not as common elsewhere! They’re definitely some of the most unique (aka weird) foods I’ve tried. 😊 ✈️𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? South Korea. As a teen, I used to watch a lot of K-dramas and became fascinated with their culture, fashion, music and scenery. From what I’ve seen in movies and shows, the cities are so vibrant, and the culture is very unique. I’d love to experience it in person! 🌳𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? Contributing to the projects that make a meaningful impact and working with such a talented team. I’m also excited about all the opportunities to grow professionally, especially participating in the ASLA conference as a professional. It’s thrilling that I get to share our work and represent our team in such a dynamic setting. #WelcomeToTheTeam #GreenBlueUrban

Winter's here, and cities across America face a familiar challenge: balancing road safety with environmental health. ❄️🪨 While deicing salts are effective, they're silently damaging our urban forests by disrupting nutrient absorption and soil structure. We've compiled a comprehensive guide covering salt-tolerant tree species, landscape design tips, and practical maintenance strategies to help urban foresters and planners make informed decisions this winter season. 🌳 Road Salt Damage: A Tree-Friendly Guide to Winter Protection: https://lnkd.in/eHMiJvrz #FAQFriday #UrbanForestry #SustainableDesign #WinterMaintenance

As we wrap up another incredible year at GreenBlue Urban, we're reflecting on some standout moments from 2024: 🎂 We brought our whole team together in Knoxville for an unforgettable team day, welcomed new team members, and shared surprise birthday celebrations throughout the year. 🌳 We've supported numerous successful soil cell installations, helping create greener urban spaces. The National ASLA conference in DC was another highlight we won't soon forget. What summed up our team in 2024? ● We enjoy a little (okay, a lot of) sarcastic banter. ● We share a genuine passion for improving urban forestry. ● We bring a “get-er-done” attitude to every project. ● We believe in helping people succeed. ● …and we’re easily won over by homemade banana bread. 🍞 Excited to see where 2025 takes us! 🎉 #TeamGreenBlueUrban #NewYear #UrbanForestry

𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 = 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 RootSpace ArborSystem is engineered to outlast the infrastructure it's installed in. Made from 100% HDPE, it boasts remarkable durability, breaking down only under UV light—a non-issue since it's safely buried underground where it’s unaffected by UV exposure. This longevity means less liability for installers, thanks to the reduced risk of failure. Plus, we back our confidence with a 30-year warranty. With installations dating back to 2000, the RootSpace ArborSystem has a proven track record of durability. Learn More: https://lnkd.in/eYdcaR44 #FAQFriday #UrbanGreening #GreenInfrastructure

🌳 This is what urban transformation looks like in real life. From an abandoned Manhattan corner with crumbling concrete and untapped potential, to Seward Park today: a modern park with a grove of honey locust trees that create a natural escape in the heart of the Big Apple. In just 7 years since installation, these trees have achieved exceptional growth rates, powered by smart underground engineering. The GreenBlue Urban ArborSystem proves that thriving trees in cities aren't just possible - they're guaranteed with the right foundation.
