Sending a HUGE congratulations to our longtime member Raptor Maps for raising a $35M Series C for its drone-based software that helps solar asset managers identify, predict, and fix problems on solar arrays! The technology analyzes thermal and color imagery generated from aerial solar site inspections to detect anomalies, ultimately lowering risks, costs, and losses for solar asset owners. ☀️ This funding comes at a pivotal time for the solar industry, which is facing unprecedented growth, larger projects with higher operational complexity, and the need for better data. Raptor Maps joined our community in 2016 and has since partnered with leaders in the renewable energy industry, including Greentown partners Enel Group and ENGIE North America Inc. "The Series C financing will accelerate Raptor Maps' product development, including enhancements in solar automation, work management, and machine-learning insights. Additionally, the company plans to expand its team with further investments in software engineering and data science," according to the announcement. Fun fact: the team regularly performs drone tests on Greentown Boston's Roof Deck ⛅ Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/g-ayRf3S Explore open roles with Raptor Maps here: https://lnkd.in/em5Aevtd Read more in Bloomberg: https://lnkd.in/gZ3qh8Fq

In the four years since Sublime Systems was spun out of MIT by Leah Ellis and Yet-Ming Chiang, it’s seen immense growth by every metric—going from its first gram of decarbonized cement to a 250-ton-per-year pilot plant, from two founders to a team of more than 85, and from $0 raised to over $200M. In that time, its team worked tirelessly in our wet and prototyping labs to rapidly progress from bench-scale iteration to product testing to pilot-system production. Now, the startup is building a manufacturing plant in Holyoke, MA that will be capable of producing 30,000 metric tons of cement per year. Along the way, the company's hit dozens of R&D, capital, deployment, and partnership milestones, including big-ticket grants from ARPA-E and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), investments and partnerships with our partners SCG, Microsoft, Vineyard Offshore, and Holcim, and much more. If you're seeing this post, you probably already know how grand the climate challenge is—and how much innovation is needed to address it. But innovation isn't easy: it requires grit, guidance, enthusiasm, and mentorship, and that's not to mention basic capital, software, and physical tools. That's where we come in: cultivating a community of fellow founders; providing expert advisors, physical tools, and lab space; and connecting founders to the investors and corporate partners who will ultimately help propel their tech out of the lab and into the world. This #GivingTuesday, we need your partnership to support startups in getting their crucial technologies out into the world. At a time when Greentown, our startups, and the broader climatetech industry are facing headwinds stemming from market trends, the recent U.S. election, and an investment chill, your support is more important now than ever. Your generous help this Giving Tuesday will empower Greentown and our startups to continue scaling climate solutions in 2025 and beyond. Learn more and donate here: https://lnkd.in/encGAgGw
