Humza was a valued member of Green Ummah who won the Young Nature Leader award last year! Part of our mandate at Green Ummah is to create a place for BIPOC youth to engage with the environmental movement. We are happy to have been supported by Nature Canada in the achievement of this goal. We encourage all youth to apply for the Young Nature Leader award and would be pleased to help facilitate events or provide organizational support as needed.
Young Nature Leader Spotlight: Humza Hassan Humza has hosted 4 “Park and Trail Group Clean Up Days”. Two of the clean up days were hosted for grade 9 geography class, one was hosted for U Waterloo Muslim Student association and one for Waterloo mosque that took place in late July. Humza has said that his “project aims to bridge education, engagement, and community for all ages, through outdoor seminars in local parks followed up by a group clean up”.
