https://lnkd.in/e8DwV3RN It is impossible for them to release this product without a business case... we're also guessing that they just made up this price like they made up the $20/mth price, the $200/mth ... it's a pattern. really what they've leaked here is a range of pricing from $2,000 to $20,000... they're doing market research. It's Not unusual in this world to have products that are very similar have a price that have a range between 1 times and 30 times the same value... like watches or cars. Open will have a business case and roi studies... because they're not crazy. And some companies will buy it. These are the same companies of the past that bought the first mainframe computers and more importantly the first mini computers and high-end desktop Unix workstations. Be wary of the media that jumps all over this freaking out because they've never spent $20,000 or down to capital investment or run a company. Business is about return on investment and computer automation has a return on investment when you are careful to not pave the cow paths. Surprising news is surprising news if you can never imagine ever spending $20,000 on a piece of software, this kind of software is not your problem. Do you believe this is just a scam or it will never happen. #ai #change #20k 🤖 🐮 🧠

If patterns hold true, this group of people, that invented reinforcement learning based on BF Skinner's work and a lot of clever computer science, will win or cause another scientist to win a Nobel Prize in some area of science... https://lnkd.in/gUpwBdWw The Turing award is out of the Academy awards of AI or the Oscars or the Nobel Prize depending on which academic you discussed this with. If the Turing Awards were available when Turing published his papers and before you worked for the military, he would have won the Turing award and probably Nobel press maybe we're due for that. (his papers are still worth reading by the way) #prediction #ai

🚨 ** Insights on AI's Future: Why You Can't Afford to Miss Ezra Klein's Latest Podcast** This particular viewpoint is especially good for skeptics or anyone with extreme views that are positive or negative about artificial intelligence. Buchanan is from the Biden administration. The U.S. government is bracing for **artificial general intelligence (AGI)** — systems surpassing human cognitive capabilities — within **2-3 years**, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. In Ezra Klein’s latest must-listen episode, *“The Government Knows AGI is Coming,”* former Biden White House AI adviser Ben Buchanan delivers a sobering warning: **We are dangerously unprepared** for a technology that could redefine labor, geopolitics, and national security by 2028. 🔑 **Key Takeaways:** - **AGI’s Timeline:** Top AI labs and policymakers now believe AGI is imminent, with seismic disruptions likely during the next presidential term. - **Labor Market Upheaval:** Millions of cognitively intensive jobs — from tech to legal roles — face automation, demanding radical policy innovation. - **The China Factor:** The U.S.-China AI race is accelerating, raising existential questions about democratic oversight vs. autocratic efficiency. - **Safety vs. Speed:** Buchanan critiques Silicon Valley’s “move fast and break things” ethos, arguing for proactive safeguards against misuse in surveillance, warfare, and disinformation[. 💡 **Why Listen Now?** This isn’t speculative sci-fi. As Klein notes, AGI could be **the defining shift of our lifetimes** — yet public discourse lags far behind the reality. Whether you’re in tech, policy, or simply a citizen, this episode equips you with the foresight to navigate what’s coming. 📌 **Don’t miss Buchanan’s urgent call for:** - Worker-centric AI policies to mitigate mass unemployment - Global cooperation to prevent an AI arms race - Ethical guardrails for national security applications 👉 **Listen here** and join the conversation: The Ezra Klein Show https://lnkd.in/gjjrWVfn *#AI #FutureOfWork #Innovation #Policy #AGI #Leadership* Share your thoughts below: How is your industry preparing for AI’s leap from tool to rival? 🔄💬 The Government Knows AGI is Coming -The Ezra Klein Show https://lnkd.in/gZM8h9CT

News. "Research suggests the drink reduces the risk of conditions linked to an early death like diabetes, liver disease, and obesity. In contrast, other studies suggest adverse effects from coffee like elevated anxiety, which may trigger migraines, sleeping issues, and gastrointestinal problems. All the same, a new, comprehensive review of coffee-related research says regular coffee consumption is associated with an average 1.8 years of added lifespan." Be prepared for some confirmation bias with your coffee tomorrow morning ☕. If correct, what are you going to do with that one point eight years of extra life coffee drinkers? https://lnkd.in/gr-u6v65 An op-ed by Guild co-founder Rob Tyrie . AI Regulation: A Global Patchwork AI laws are evolving fast—but no two countries are taking the same approach. The EU AI Act enforces strict risk-based rules, China prioritizes state control, the U.S. relies on sector-specific oversight, Canada is crafting a consumer-focused framework, and Australia is still weighing its options. With such divergence, global AI businesses face growing compliance challenges. Will we see regulatory alignment, or will AI innovation be shaped by fragmented laws? #AI #Regulation #TechPolicy

https://lnkd.in/dvinhaBU Meanwhile in Ontario Canada, the incumbent, Doug Ford has won his 3rd mandate in another convincing majority. In 2024, the province of Ontario has a population of 15,911,285, having grown an annualized 1.8% over the five years to 2024, which ranks it 6th out of 13 provinces and territories by growth rate. Ontario's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024 reached $887.7b, with growth of 1.9% over the 5 years to 2024. One of the current controversies that has plagued Ford, are accusations of "pay for access". There's been no substantive proof of this. #onpoli

Free Learning and Teach Resources #AI Are you smarter than a high school student about AI? Find out. Follow the story below to access the resources that are free from Stanford U. "From her vantage point as a teacher, Humphrey echoes this sentiment. “Right now, we have a factory model of education. It’s about paint by number, fill in the blanks. It doesn’t support critical thinking and it’s not allowing students to work in their areas of personal interest. In the next five to ten years, we won’t need to teach in the same ways we’ve been teaching. It’s going to be about helping students understand how to wield powerful AI tools.” Want to get involved?
