2024 is coming to a close, but GRI Club is far from done for the year! Check out our global calendar for December: 🔹 The first week of December is off to a busy start for GRI Club Europe, beginning with a unique politically-framed Club Meeting on 3rd in London, welcoming former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, to lead discussions around how business can navigate today’s political landscape. We then head south for the ‘Debt Funds into Italy’ Club Meeting in Milan on 3rd, and online meeting ‘Cross-Border Investments in Southern Europe’ on 4th. This month, GRI Club Europe also begins the season of Economic Series Club Meetings, starting with ‘CEE Economic Series 2024’ on 4th, and ‘German Economic Series’ on 5th. 🔹 Meanwhile, this month, GRI Club Brazil will see the much-anticipated fourth edition of the ‘GRI Residencial para Renda 2024’ conference on 3rd in São Paulo. On Tuesday, GRI Club hosted the 7th GRI Real Estate Investment Funds Forum in São Paulo, bringing together over 300 investors, fund managers, and industry experts for an exchange of key insights and essential information geared towards the sector's growth. Given the challenging environment of high-interest rates, the day kicked off with a discussion on monetary and fiscal policy, led by Ana Paula Vescovi (Santander), Mário Mesquita (Itaú Unibanco), and Luiz Fernando Figueiredo (JiveMauá), with Fernando Crestana (BTG Pactual) as the moderator. 🔹Throughout the forum, critical topics were explored, including corporate and logistics REITs, income-generating residential funds, shopping centers, high-street retail, and investment opportunities in CRIs (Real Estate Receivables Certificates), among other areas. Yesterday (22nd), the inaugural edition of the GRI Club Infra multilateral debate took place in Madrid, Spain, where investors, construction companies, concessionaires, banks, and public entities from Latin America met with Europe's leading funds and investors to explore financing solutions and develop projects in key sectors such as water management, road infrastructure, and renewable energy. “This year I sense cautious optimism,” says Kunaal Shah, Partner at Trilegal, regarding European real estate investor sentiment while at Europe GRI 2024. Kunaal strongly contrasted this with sentiment in the Indian market. 🔹 “India is very different. There is an aggressive optimism in the country,” describes Kunaal, explaining that it is a matter of when, not if, India will become close to the top three countries in terms of GDP. During his exclusive interview with Gustavo Favaron, CEO & Managing Partner of GRI Club, Kunaal also addresses the perceptions of India’s investor landscape from an outside perspective, explaining that many of these perceptions relate to India prior to 2014. Historically, international investors entering India faced challenges including identifying the right local partners, understanding regulatory quagmire, and navigating cultural differences. 🔹 Today, India is far more open to foreign capital, considering the clear understanding that the country cannot solely depend on domestic capital to achieve the level of development required - particularly within real estate and infrastructure. “You can invest capital in India for the next 150 years and we will still need more capital, because that is the amount of growth that we require.” Kunaal also discusses how the digital revolution is tackling corruption and inequality, as well as advice for entering the Indian market, and the reality of exiting the market. 🔗 Watch the full interview with Kunaal Shah here: https://lnkd.in/dtmV2DqA #griclub #realestate #india #europe #crossbordercapital
