We’re building Airloom AI on Griptape Cloud and I’ve been extremely pleased with the pace of development as a result.
If you’re building AI applications and want to move fast, you should try it out.
We’re excited to share that Griptape 1.0 is now available! This release marks the first stable version of the Griptape framework, a significant step forward in its development.
Griptape 1.0 doesn’t mean development is slowing down. Instead, it signifies that the API is stable enough to avoid breaking changes in future, non-major, releases. We’ll continue to add new features and improvements while maintaining backward compatibility with the current API.
In addition to finalizing the last batch of breaking changes, this release includes several new features and updates:
- GriptapeCloudToolTool: A new Tool for loading and running Griptape Cloud Hosted Tools.
- Assistant Drivers: New Drivers for interacting with Griptape Cloud and OpenAI assistant APIs.
- RAG Module Enhancements: Updates to the PromptResponseRagModule for improved response quality.
- Python 3.13 Support: Griptape now supports Python 3.13.
A big thank-you to everyone who has contributed and supported the framework so far. We’re excited to continue building and improving Griptape with you!

Despite it being Xmas party season (and a beautiful Wellington evening), we still had a big turnout for the AI Strategy Wellington Meetup on Tuesday. It’s clear there are a growing number of people who are "AI curious", and keen to learn and share insights about AI.
Jason Schleifer spoke about Griptape (a modular open source framework for building and deploy LLM-based agents, pipelines, and workflows). We are huge fans. If you want to know more than we recommend this Youtube playlist - https://lnkd.in/gxKaA52UMontgomery Anderson spoke about how we're using AI and Griptape to help Life Education Trust NZ supercharge their knowledge base of educational resources, and turn their Educators into even more powerful super-humans. He explained how the impact of using AI to both enrich meta-data and provide a natural language search interface have him so excited he currently doesn't want to work on anything else.
Tom Hovey generously shared what he's learned from his experience training people at organisations like Radio New Zealand, and NZDF - and gave us his reckons on the next 12 months.
If you joined the session remotely and have questions we didn't get to answer on the night just reach out. We are keen to explore any problem space with you - we haven't been this excited about new tech for a long time.
Given the interest in this one, we’ll be looking to follow up with another event early in the new year - stay tuned.

🚀 Tonight Jordan and I attended Wellingtons AI Strategy Group event “Applying Gen AI in the Real World”, hosted at PaperKite where we heard from some epic people helping organisations to understand and apply AI!
A few key takeaways were:
🧠 AI Integration & Innovation
• Generative AI isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about creating value and serving customers better.
• Orchestrating multiple models and applying rules can enhance reliability.
⚠️ Key Considerations
• Privacy is crucial: personal information should not reach the LLM.
• Fact-check everything: Don’t blindly trust AI outputs.
• Be mindful of biases and the risks of doing the same thing faster— you might reduce headcount but that won’t necessarily improve outcomes.
💡 Guiding Lights
• We’re at the beginning of mainstream adoption, and understanding how prompting works is key.
• AI doesn’t inherently know right from wrong, so applying clear rules is essential for reliability.
🚨 Warnings
• Beware of “snake oil” solutions; not all AI tools deliver what they promise.
• Copyright and data ownership will remain major challenges going forward.
The speakers reinforced that in today’s world data is everything and AI is most powerful when used thoughtfully to enhance value, not just efficiency.
If you’re exploring how AI can transform your work, I’d love to connect and exchange ideas.
