‘Of course, there may be other styles of curiosity beyond these three. For example, personality psychologists describe three other types of curious people: the Fascinated, who have many interests; the Problem-Solvers, whose curiosity is focused on a particular area; and the Empathizers, who are very socially curious.’ Kira M. Not knowing what the hell is going on is nothing to be apologetic about. I’m getting used to it, and I’ve turned it into a tool. My mindset now? - "I don’t know what’s going on. I’m in the right place. Let’s see." The only way to arrive at the right answer is to assume complete ignorance of any given challenge. The most powerful weapon in the armoury is that mindset. https://lnkd.in/eEW3E5pJ #structuredvisualthinking #designthinking #economics #transformation #strategy #decisionquality #decisionmaking #frameworks #truth #leadership #ai

Why does this matter? It matters because generalization is a widespread human bias, which means a lot of our understanding of the world actually is based on extrapolations made from relatively small sample sizes. Consequently, our individual behavior is shaped by potentially incomplete or inadequate facts that we use to make the decisions that are meant to lead us to success. This bias also shapes a fair degree of public policy and government legislation. We don’t want people who make decisions that affect millions to be dependent on captivating bullshit. (A further concern is that once you are invested, other biases kick in). https://lnkd.in/ezqdD9Dc #structuredvisualthinking #designthinking #economics #transformation #strategy #decisionquality #decisionmaking #frameworks #truth #leadership #ai Farnam Street

Though natural selection favours self-interest, humans are extraordinarily good at cooperating with one another. Why? Dr Saira Khan If we don’t end up cooperating, we lose out on future beneficial interaction This is so relevant for how we need to communicate and collaborate in all environments - 'One crafts a spear head, the other crafts a shaft. To do so, they need some means of communicating' https://lnkd.in/e9_HPFTh #structuredvisualthinking #designthinking #economics #transformation #strategy #decisionquality #decisionmaking #frameworks #truth #leadership #ai

'When it comes to honor we’re positively schizophrenic. On the one hand, we have deep nostalgia for the honorable way of life. … But at the same time, we find many aspects of honor to be absurd, petty, and morally reprehensible. After all, doesn’t honor lead to blood feuds, pointless duels, vigilantism, revenge, racism, nationalism, terrorism, bullying, and violence against women? Isn’t one of the signs of civilizations progress that we’ve put honor in the rearview mirror and replaced it with a commitment to dignity, equality, and human rights?' How Well Your Business Does In The Future Rests On THREE Things ONE - A viable strategy and plan. Complete with a clear vision, brand and story, business models, appreciation of the market context/dynamics and coherent objectives - all well-understood by the important stakeholders. TWO - The operation that can deliver the strategy and plan. A successful and sustainable business requires the right processes, systems, facilities, infrastructure, appropriate culture and mechanisms. THREE - Sustainable in every sense of the word. https://lnkd.in/eGzXmaWz #structuredvisualthinking #designthinking #economics #transformation #strategy #decisionquality #decisionmaking #frameworks #truth #leadership #ai

True intelligence isn’t just about raw ability — it’s about the discipline to investigate things creatively and directly rather than settling for shallow explanations. In this essay, writer and entrepreneur Nabeel S. Qureshi explores how great thinkers developed their insights by testing ideas from multiple angles, refusing to fool themselves, and being unafraid to look stupid' https://lnkd.in/gDAZuQf7 #structuredvisualthinking Big Think #designthinking #economics #transformation #strategy #decisionquality #decisionmaking #frameworks #truth #leadership #innovation #ai
