Today is World Mental Health Day and we thought it would be a great time to talk about how taking care of our own mental health takes just as much work as taking care of our animals. When you think about good husbandry practices, are you giving yourself the same opportunities as you give your animals? Are you fueling your body with nutritious meals and enough water? If you have said the words "they eat better than I do" like so many of us have, focus some attention on what your diet would look like if you were an animal in your care. Are you providing yourself learning and growth opportunities? We spend so much time training our animals and giving them problems to solve, think about bringing that same creativity to a roadblock you are currently facing. Are you allowing yourself time to have fun? Sometimes it can feel easier to just settle down on the couch after a long day, but it is really important to engage with activities outside of work as well. Giving our brains and our bodies space away from work and chances to move and flex in ways we are not conditioned to enriches our lives. Evaluate your past and current interests and decide if you would like to reintegrate a past hobby or try something new. Finally, are you fulfilling your social needs? If you feel like you could use some social support, consider joining our free Virtual Support Group tonight from 7:30pm - 9:00pm Eastern time. Register here: https://lnkd.in/eC8tTgbK
