🌿 Author Spotlight: Rachel Larimore, PhD 🌿 Meet Rachel Larimore, PhD (she/her), an educator, speaker, and consultant passionate about integrating nature into early childhood education! 🌱 She’s the author of 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴 and 𝘌𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 with Gryphon House, two essential reads for nature-based learning. Today is "Old Rock Day"! Gryphon House author Laura Wilhelm says, "These are barite crystals, or 'rose rocks,' Oklahoma’s state rock, that I collected. My friend gave one to a child who asked if he should water it. She said, 'No, honey, it’s a rock.' He whispered, 'I’m gonna water it anyway. Just in case.' " According to Byrd Baylor’s children’s book of the same name, everybody needs a rock. "Not just any rock, but a special rock that you find yourself and keep as long as you can--maybe forever.” Wilhelm knows all about rocks; she is the co-author or author of four books for Gryphon House, including 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘈𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦, an exploration of living things as loose parts for learning.
