Let the GT Viking inspire you to spread kindness and positivity.     Jonathan Chastain, better known as the GT Viking, has become a staple in the Georgia Tech community and made it a mission to uplift others.  He attends football games wearing his iconic Viking helmet and, as the leader of the Georgia Tech Football Fan Facebook page, helps Yellow Jacket fans in need by connecting them with free football tickets.

Georgia Tech Professor Mike Goodisman and his team sequenced the genomes of two local yellow jacket species. Based on the research, the stinger makes Buzz anatomically female, but Goodisman can’t definitively say which species of yellow jacket the mascot would be. Goodisman thinks Buzz’s feisty nature would lean toward the more aggressive and charismatic southern yellow jacket, V. squamosa.

Yellow Jackets are everywhere! Georgia Tech Foundation Trustee Chris Jones organized a tour of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. for current students.  While exploring the building, the group met a tour guide who attended Georgia Tech too.

New year, but we’re still celebrating the 2024 graduates! 🎓🐝 Prabhanjan Nayak recently graduated with a Computer Science degree and is now on his way to becoming a double jacket as he pursues a master’s degree in the same field from Tech. One of his best memories on campus was getting midnight breakfast with friends before finals. #gtalumni #GT24
