a16z’s State of Crypto Report just dropped! Here are the stats we’re paying most attention to: -DeFi accounts for the most crypto usage at 34% of daily active addresses. -DEXs account for 10% of spot crypto trading activity. -Over $169 billion is locked inside thousands of DeFi protocols. Impressive stats at face value, but there’s one the report missed: The sector with the highest growth, DeFi, is also the sole sector where 95%+ of all losses to hacks have occurred. If we’re getting ready for DeFi growth, security will need to grow with it. No more money draining from the leaky bucket. DeFi needs Guardrail.

A couple highlights: (1) hosting "Data, Security & Security for Web3" with Zellic and Hyperline (2) exchanging threat notes with Andrew Beal, Taylor Monahan (3) meeting builders launching Euler Labs, Intersend, and more (4) brainstorming with thought leaders incl Viktor Bunin and Chris Ahn We're hiring across engineering & business roles in the bay to build the future of on-chain security. Turning the page on 2023, I'm excited to share what the last year looked like for Guardrail.ai: – Converted our first MVP trials to paying customers across 3 continents – Accepted into Alliance accelerator & RSA Startup Launch Pad, and spoke at Coinbase & ETHGlobal's Security Summits – Raised $Xm seed funding from exceptional lead investors and dream angels (more to come on that) – Hardened and scaled a security product to be enterprise-ready with a 3 person team – Hired our first, second, and third founding engineers (!) – Earned customer love and built new relationships in a new space Like the blockchain space, company building has been a rollercoaster (DM me if I can be helpful), and if the first few days of 2024 have been a sign of anything, this space continues to present huge security challenges, and our team is excited for what's ahead in 2024. Thank you to every person who's been a part of our journey last year, and I hope we get to cross paths this year!
