  • In 2013, President Jimmy Carter made his mark locally by building with us in Oakland and San Jose. In his honor, we framed doors in each city, and we welcomed our community to come sign them as a remembrance of the impact he made on so many. Thank you - Habitat volunteers, supporters, staff, and homeowners, City of Oakland Interim Mayor, Kevin Jenkins, City of San José Mayor, Matt Mahan, and countless other community members - for showing up and sharing your memories with us. If you didn't get a chance to visit the memorials, these doors now stand in our ReStore locations in Oakland and San Jose through Wednesday, January 22nd. We invite you to stop in to sign these memorial doors and read the messages that President Carter's life of service inspired.
