COUNTDOWN: 5 Days until the Habits for a Better World Conference! Announcing two additional speakers: We're thrilled to have Laurel Tamayo and Samira Dodson both of whom are with Rare's Entertainment Lab. The lab has a mission to "inspire change so people and nature thrive". They together will be interviewed by Karel and Carly for the closing guest speaker segment of the conference on Sunday. Laurel Tamayo is the Impact Associate at Rare’s Entertainment Lab, where she supports writers on integrating climate-friendly behaviors on screen through consultations and workshops. She formerly worked on the impact campaign for "I Am Greta", inspiring the audience to take action on climate change. She also worked on the Hollywood Climate Summit and the Good Energy Playbook (a guide for screenwriters on how they can weave climate change into their films and TV shows). In addition, Laurel recently directed an independent short documentary called "Healing Lahaina", a deeply personal film covering her family's experience with the 2023 Lahaina wildfire, climate change, and community resilience. She was recognized in Forbes 68 Climate Leaders Changing The Film and TV Industry. Samira Dobson is a Media and Behavior Change Researcher at Rare's Entertainment Lab, whose work focuses on how climate-friendly behaviors can be integrated into on-screen narratives to inspire environmental action. She holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Binghamton University, where she studied how emotional valence and familiarity influence recognition and source memory.
