With only 17.6% of protected lands and 8.4% of protected oceans, further efforts are needed to conserve at least 30% of land and 30% of the world’s oceans. Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to engage various representatives of HAC members working in DC’s Embassies to shed light on CBD #COP16 outcomes and next steps. A look inside our #30x30 Action Day at #COP16Colombia in Cali, co-organized with IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) and the UN Biodiversity. From engaging high-level voices on progress towards achieving the K-M GBF Target 3 commitments to moderating debates on nature finance, the need for increased recognition of traditional territories, and the honoring of the rights of Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities (IP&LCs), we had an enriching day that was rounded off with defining recommendations for concrete progress on delivering #30x30. A big thank you to the CBD Secretariat, IUCN WCPA for co-organizing the event as well as to our partners and supporters. Let’s continue to champion our efforts and progress towards the 30x30 goal!
