Rethinking Furniture: From Waste to Sustainability at Haddy At Haddy, recyclable furniture is at the heart of our mission — because sustainability is not just a trend, it’s a responsibility we take seriously. According to the EPA, furniture waste in the U.S. reached a staggering 12.2 million tons in 2017, with over 80% of it ending up in landfills. Even more concerning is that only 0.3% of this waste was recovered for recycling. Much of this waste is driven by "fast furniture" — mass-produced, short-lived pieces designed to be replaced quickly, contributing to environmental harm. We believe it’s time for a change. At Haddy, we’re taking a stand to be part of the solution, not the problem. Our approach focuses on designing furniture that is built to last—and to be recycled. Using recycled polymer composites and other bio-compostable polymers, we want to ensure that our pieces can be repurposed or return to the Earth at the end of their use, minimizing waste, and supporting a circular economy. By leveraging the power of 3D printing and automation, we’re transforming the way furniture is made. Our technology makes production more efficient while ensuring that recycling is an integral part of the process. We envision a future where furniture is not only beautiful and functional but also sustainable. Through thoughtful design and innovation, we aim to reduce waste, eliminate fast furniture’s harmful impact, and pave the way for a more sustainable industry. It’s time to rethink what furniture can be—and how it can help create a cleaner, greener world. #recyclablefurniture #sustainability #circularfurniture #3dprinting #sustainablemanufacturing #ecofriendlydesign #innovation #furnituredesign #sustainableliving #haddy

The furniture industry has long been dominated by challenges such as complex global supply chains, slow production cycles, and significant waste. At Haddy, we're committed to transforming the way furniture and other elements of the build environment are made and distributed. In a recent interview with DC Velocity, our CEO & Co-Founder, John B. Rogers, Jr. discusses how we are disrupting the traditional model by embracing microfactories, automation, and sustainable materials. With the power of 3D printing and robotics, Haddy is able to manufacture smarter, faster, and more localized products, minimizing waste and reducing the environmental impact of production. By bringing production closer to the end consumer, we are not only improving efficiency but also creating new opportunities for businesses and local communities.
