We believe in food with purpose and the power of community. Based in the South End and Roxbury.
About us
Always local in focus and based in personal relationship, Haley House has grown organically in response to the harsh realities of social inequality and injustice. We remain committed to the important work of nurturing community which inspires and supports lasting personal and societal transformation. Never abandoning our deep roots as a house of hospitality, Haley House today addresses basic human needs through four interconnected branches. • Direct Services: Our soup kitchen, food pantry, elder meal, and clothing room in the South End is run entirely by residential volunteer staff. We serve over 24,000 meals a year in the soup kitchen and distribute over 65,000 meals a year through the food pantry. • Housing: Over 100 units of permanent, affordable housing scattered throughout our South End neighborhood make up our housing program. • Urban Farming: We have formed community and school-based garden partnerships that aim to encourage healthy lifestyles, build community, and contribute to healthy and local food access. • Social Enterprise: Haley House Bakery Café offers healthful, organic, affordable fare in the heart of Roxbury’s Dudley Square with extensive community-initiated programming, including our Transitional Employment Program for those exiting incarceration, our Take Back the Kitchen youth cooking classes, our pay-what-you-can Community Tables dinners, and a variety of arts & cultural programming. And our newest venture, Dudley Dough, is an artisanal pizza shop serving up great food and economic justice for workers. Come visit us soon!

We are very grateful to Mayor Michelle Wu, who announced that Haley House is receiving a SPACE grant, giving our dreams the space to grow! We’ll be using this grant to support the reopening and buildout of our beloved Bakery Café. SPACE (Supporting Pandemic Affected Community Enterprises) Grants seek to bring more local businesses into Boston’s major commercial districts, revitalize downtown, bring vibrancy to City neighborhoods, and close the racial wealth gap. Learn more about SPACE grants at www.boston.gov/space-grant.

We are thrilled to share the success of the IICF Boston Associate Board's annual Fall Gathering, held on Wednesday at Night Shift Brewing's Lovejoy Wharf location. The event raised over $40,000, benefiting two remarkable organizations: Haley House and Room to Grow. Haley House provides direct services, affordable housing, urban agriculture, and social enterprise initiatives in Boston's South End and Roxbury neighborhoods. Room to Grow supports low-income families with babies aged zero to three, offering coaching, material goods, and community connections to ensure children thrive from the start. A special thank you our Title & Gold Sponsor, CNA Insurance; Title Sponsors, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, Chubb; Platinum Sponsor, The Hartford; Gold sponsors, Allied World, Arch Re, HUB International, Intact, Melick & Porter, LLP, The Andover Companies, WTW, Zurich North America, and the support of all contributors as your generosity exemplifies how #insuranceindustrygivesback!
