🆘 This holiday season, don't miss these top 10 signs your aging loved one might be in need of care... 1️⃣ Safety concerns Falls or near falls are the most serious warning sign. Watch for bruises or other signs, since seniors might be too embarrassed to share the occurrence with loved ones. 2️⃣ Incontinence Accidents are another serious sign. Again, seniors might not share the occurrence and loved ones should stay vigilant (for example, stained clothing or furniture). 3️⃣ Changes in physical appearance Sudden weight loss or unkempt appearance could indicate a struggle to complete activities of daily living such as grocery shopping, meal preparation, eating, or dressing. 4️⃣ Decline in hygiene Bad breath, body odor, or dandruff are potential signs that a senior is struggling to remember or complete lifelong hygiene habits. 5️⃣ Decline in home cleanliness A senior challenged by ordinary tasks may struggle to keep their home as neat and tidy as they used to. 6️⃣ Changes in behavior or mood Confusion, forgetfulness (particularly with medications or appointments), aggression (driven by frustration), or mood swings (for example, visible anxiety or agitation) could indicate a senior is experiencing cognitive decline or struggling with mental health. 7️⃣ Social withdrawal No longer socializing might reveal a senior feeling isolated or depressed. 8️⃣ Reduced activity Loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities or hobbies could reveal difficulty organizing/planning or stem from social withdrawal. 9️⃣ Missed bills Mail piling up might suggest a senior struggling to keep up on their own. 🔟 Difficulty with daily tasks In addition to the above examples: showering, cooking, cleaning, getting in/out of bed or a chair. 🫴 If you notice any of these signs or concerns, it may be time to step in and get help for your aging loved one. 💗 This could involve reaching out to healthcare professionals, hiring a caregiver or home health aide, or considering assisted living or other options. 💡 A care manager can help families understand these options and develop a plan. 🤝 It’s important to prioritize your loved one’s safety and well-being while respecting their autonomy and independence as much as possible. Happy holidays from Hallmark! 🎄🎉🕎

😡 One of the most upsetting things for an aging loved one? 😨 🚘 Having their car keys taken away. 😃 Remember how excited you were to get driving privileges as a teenager? 😤 Well it works both ways...not fun to lose them! 🤔 Driving is a key part of independence, but as we age, it’s important to stay mindful of changes that could impact safety behind the wheel. 🛣️ This National Older Driver Safety Awareness Week, let’s support our older loved ones by having open conversations and exploring resources to ensure they stay safe on the road. 🚗 Together, we can promote confidence and safety for drivers of all ages! 🧓

Today, we showcased our virtual care services for residents at TreeTops aged 65 and older. It was a wonderful event where current patients shared their experiences with our 24/7 phone support and same-day virtual nurse visits. Residents had the opportunity to meet their local nurse, Brooke Randall, and ask her questions. At Patina, we accept most Medicare Advantage plans, traditional Medicare, and supplemental plans. We connected those seeking home care services with Jennifer Smith from Hallmark Homecare South Charlotte, who explained their offerings. Together, we’re enhancing the lives of the aging population by supporting their independence and dignity. Thank you to everyone who joined us! #Patina #VirtualCare #AgingWithDignity #CommunityEngagement #Healthcare #Medicare #SeniorCare #HomeCare #PatientExperience #HallmarkHomeCareSouthCharlotte
