The Georgia Hunger & Health Summit hosted by the CDC Foundation brought together stakeholders representing food banks, advocacy organizations, food recovery organizations, youth and family community organizations, government organizations and more. Community Organizer, James, supports Crystal Perry in leading the programming of the SnapEd Community Champions. In her own words, she shares how the most recent meeting went at the library. "The meeting kicked off with an icebreaker and introductions, followed by a review of Hand, Heart, & Soul's mission and SNAP educational resources. The group explored the concept of PSE change (Policy, System, Environment) and shared ideas for improvements in Clayton County. Participants emphasized the importance of promoting healthy diets from an early age. One member suggested connecting with local schools that have gardens to understand their distribution methods and encourage healthy eating. The discussion also covered MyPlate, which has replaced the Food Pyramid, and addressed concerns about the costs associated with healthier eating, as well as the importance of understanding food purchases. GMOs and food codes for organic shopping were also topics of interest during the meeting." We are proud to partner with Crystal and the Community Champions and explore how we can work together, being advocates in our health journey. #SnapEd #CommunityChampions
