Happy Friday! Unfortunately, the saga of #MTY containers continues its slow creep northward at the Port of Los Angeles...8% below since they started tracking on Nov 15th 2021….not quite the total clusterfudge that was early Dec 2021 of 90,397 (ahhh the memories)….regardless…lately, the number is trending up…⬆️ While this chart doesn't include the Port of Long Beach, surely their numbers are similar. So, likely there are over 120K empty contianers awaiting evacuation in the complex. While this is not a new phenomenon, and yes there are a certain amount of #MTYS that are needed “on terminal”, and yes, it is a fluid game, still, the effects are felt in #Drayage yards on top of #Chassis across #SoCal. The LAST thing #Drayage companies want to be sitting on are #MTY boxes that have no return locations...(I’ll spare the problematic #EPs in this post…lol) Either way, happy to expand on the challenges for anyone who is remotely interested or maybe knows something I do not. #PerDiem #Detention #AB2406 https://lnkd.in/gkcHaVyT

#CoMotionLA panel this morning with these long-time friends and colleagues was “electric”! Fantastic policy discussion on the Future of #Drayage in the great push towards #ZEVTOPIA for the #SupplyChain! Thanks to Alan Ohnsman from Forbes for the thoughtful questions that prompted honest responses from the panel. We agreed on almost everything, save the part about the California Air Resources Board “listening” to #Industry #Stakeholders…maybe it was just me…lol Thanks to Kome Ajise from Southern California Association of Governments for recognizing and highlighting the business challenges in this transition (Kome for #Governor!)… Thanks to Renee Moilanen from the Port of Long Beach for providing the #PortAuthority perspective on efforts to assist in achieving the lofty goals while balancing the needs of businesses working in the gateway. And thanks to Mei Wang from South Coast Air Quality Management District for outlining the work that #SCAQMD is doing on #incentives and #TechnologyAdvancement… No shortage of challenges and we have a long road ahead…but I’ve said it once and I’ll say it 1000 more times…if the #HDZE tech works so great, we don’t need regulations to get fleets to use it.
