🦠 A newly discovered microbe might be able to help curb the climate crisis. 🌳 UTEX-3222, nicknamed “Chonkus,” is a novel strain of cyanobacteria that is especially adept at “eating” carbon dioxide and sinking in water. Just 13 liters of Chonkus could capture as much carbon dioxide annually as a single tree! 🤿 Chonkus, first discovered off the coast of Italy, is a prime candidate for biologically-based carbon sequestration projects and bioproduction of valuable commodities. Submissions are now open for both sessions and pre-conference workshops as part of our second annual CAFÉ Climate and Health Conference! While March 3rd will be dedicated to pre-conference workshops, the subsequent conference days of March 4th-6th will consist predominantly of concurrent sessions designed to encourage cross-sector collaboration and discussion. These sessions can vary in format but are intended for the general conference audience as a means of expanding knowledge, fostering conversations across academic disciplines and sectors, and sparking new collaborations that extend beyond the scope of this conference. Pre-conference workshop proposals will be accepted through September 30th. Conference Session proposals will be accepted through November 30th. For more information and to submit your proposal, see our website: https://lnkd.in/gNBD5UCR
