🔦 Science Spotlight: Enhancing Cell-Based Microfluidics with Programmable Agitation 🔬 Maintaining homogeneous cell suspensions during microfluidic syringe pump perfusion has always been a challenge, especially for tissue engineering applications. Sedimentation of cells leads to inconsistent results, limiting the potential of droplet-based microfluidic devices. 🧪 Researchers from the University of Illinois have developed a programmable magnetic agitation device that can help maintain the colloidal suspension of cells during microfluidic applications. The instrument accommodates Harvard Apparatus syringe pumps, commonly used for precision perfusion in cellular systems. ☝️ This innovation has significant implications for the field of microfluidics and cell-based assays, as it can help improve the accuracy and reproducibility of cell-based experiments. If you are interested in learning more about this innovative technology, you can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eThZYE4k If you are interested in learning more about the use of Harvard Apparatus pumps in microfluidic applications, you can visit https://lnkd.in/eHDWJvum #HarvardApparatus #pump #syringepump #sciencespotlight

🔦 Science Spotlight: Optimizing Liposome Production with Microfluidics and AI 🫧 Liposomes are widely recognized as effective drug nanocarriers, and microfluidic-based preparation methods are proving to be a game-changer for scalability and precision. 🧪 Researchers from Université Paris Cité developed a liposome preparation process based on microfluidics. The research team could effectively prepare and characterize PEGylated liposomes using a Harvard Apparatus syringe pump for controlled mixing on a microfluidic chip. 🤖 The method was complemented with statistical tools and machine learning to help optimize the formulation and fabrication of microfluidic-prepared liposomes. ☝️ This microfluidic-based preparation method assisted by computational tools paves the way for faster development and clinical application of nanobased medications.
