“I’ve felt the pain of going back to work too soon. I’ve felt the stress on my new family because our country doesn’t support new parents. I’ve seen thousands of parents go through the same struggle. It’s time to make a change.” These are words from our CEO and Co-Founder, Ann Weiss, from a 2016 Medium blog post. At Hatch, we’re disheartened that while this piece was written nearly a decade ago, there has been little to no advancement in national paid parental leave during this time. We also know how vulnerable (and sleep-deprived!) the time period immediately after having a new baby is, and the last thing that should be on a new parent’s mind is the stress of having no financial support, loss of income, or uncertainty of whether or not you’ll have a job to return to. For this, and a million other reasons, we are so incredibly proud to join Bobbie’s N.O. Support Grant coalition, a coalition of brands and individuals who are helping families impacted by the lack of paid leave. Together we will provide hundreds of families across the U.S. with $580 microgrants, as $580 is the minimum amount the Family and Medical Act - the current federal paid leave program in front of congress - would provide as a monthly benefit.
