"These doctors are what you would call miracle workers," said Nydia, a trauma patient survivor. Her daughter, Jessica, added, "I turned 48 today. I am celebrating my 48th birthday because of the miracle that happened at HCA Florida Healthcare, and I can't express how grateful I am for it.” HCA Florida Osceola Hospital held a reunion for trauma patients and the doctors, nurses, and other team members who cared for them. HCA Florida Healthcare operates the largest ER network in the state, serving over 2.8 million patients per year at more than 110 emergency rooms statewide. As Floridians rebuild from Hurricanes #Helene and #Milton, we are reminded of the strength and resilience of the communities we serve. In early November, we announced a $750,000 contribution to organizations committed to helping those impacted across Florida. The HCA Healthcare Hope Fund, a 501(c)(3) charity that helps HCA Healthcare employees and their immediate families who are affected by financial hardship, today announced that The Frist Foundation has donated $1 million to support HCA Healthcare colleagues impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Hurricane Helene made landfall as a powerful category 4 hurricane on Thursday, September 26, leaving more than four million people without power and causing major damage as it traveled throughout the Southeast. Less than two weeks later, Hurricane Milton hit the west coast of Florida as a category 3 hurricane bringing powerful wind, rain and flooding throughout the state. “When I hear the word ‘superwoman’ the first person that comes to my mind is Susan. Susan’s ability to maintain a positive attitude, while faced with adversity is nothing but amazing. Even during her treatment process, Susan never let her smile faulter, she continued to provide great patient care even on the bad days – she is the true definition of a fighter.” said Rayshonda Henry, practice manager at HCA Florida Healthcare. Susan Chiasson was diagnosed with breast cancer in the middle of her accelerated nursing program. Susan faced the challenge with courage, undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation while finishing her studies. Today, Susan is thriving and starting the HCA Healthcare Nurse Residency program at HCA Florida Capital Hospital, where she’s already inspired so many with her strength and dedication.
