⚽ 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 ⚽ We hear far too often that the old leather balls used in the 60s caused more damage than today's footballs due to their weight. In reality, these footballs both weigh between 14-16 oz. In fact, today's footballs travel faster resulting in an increased impact force, thus causing more damage. Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, better known as CTE, is a progressive, degenerative brain disease caused by repetitive head impacts, including headers. Learn more ➡️ https://loom.ly/Un6j3Fc

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! 🙌⚽ We often hear complaints about the 'empty words’ spoken regarding the support needed for the many contact sports players affected by the progressive brain disease, CTE. Head Safe Football and The Tempus Group are each committed to 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 which support and safeguard players. Co-founders of HSF, Dr. Judith Gates and Nick Gates, met with the inspirational founder of the Tempus Group, Chris Simpson-Daniel last week. We gave him a copy of No-Brainer and look forward to collaborating in future to support, educate and safeguard. Today, the Lionesses kick off their Nations League campaign with a trip to Portugal! 🇵🇹 As we rally behind them, here are some important stats to consider: ⚽ Women are nearly twice as likely (1.9x) to experience a concussion compared to men. ⚽ On average, women take two extra days to recover from a concussion. The risks aren't equal. Can we wait 30 years for the research to ‘catch up’ before we put policies in place to safeguard women against CTE?

Nick Gates attended the inaugural event of Concussed Media, Ahead of the Game, and congratulates Sam Peters, author of Concussed, for organising such an informative evening. Nick was accompanied by Jamie Hill, son of the world famous Ex-Footballer, Manager and Sky Sports veteran, Jimmy Hill, who was also an influential former chairman of the PFA. Jamie is understandably supportive of Head Safe Football as his dad, Jimmy, is one of the many former footballers who suffered from dementia. Always great to catch up with Professor Willie Stewart too!
